Newdow Sueing To Remove “In God We Trust” From Money
Posted on November 14, 2005
This man is out to be the American Athiest Activist of the decade I think.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. The atheist who’s spent years trying to ban recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools says he’ll file a new lawsuit this week.
Michael Newdow says he’ll ask a federal court to order removal of the national motto “In God We Trust” from U-S coins and currency. He says it violates the religious rights of atheists who belong to his “First Amendment Church of True Science.”
Newdow, of Sacramento, Calif., made the remarks Saturday night shortly before addressing the American Civil Liberties Union of Oklahoma Foundation Bill of Rights Celebration.WND
It wasn’t enough to take God out of the pledge of Alligience. This man thinks his views trump all. He goes and creates a phony Church so he can claim religious persecution. He is truly a joke, but one we should all take serious, because he is doing tremendous damage to our Nation’s heritage. The attempt to erase and rewrite history is succeeding in America. The secular cleansing is approved of by the activist Courts. This is bound to go all the way to the Supreme Court. Let’s hope the new make up of the Court slaps this idiot back down where he belongs. Church of True Science…give me a break. Whats next, the Declaration of Independence being unconstitutional? Perhaps they will give him a file so he can start removing the references himself, one coin at at time.

Actually surprised that a clown with Newdow’s mentality hasn’t tried this years ago! Is he certifiable or just a mud buried swine?
They wouldn’t just declare the Declaration of Independence unconstitutional. Check out the preamble of the constitution. It uses the term “blessings,” which indicates that they were trying to secure a divine gift from Deity.
Yep, they’re going to try to get the constitution ruled unconstitutional. Can that happen?
Someone needs to slap newdow upside his head.
Jeremiah,
One step at a time…that’s how they work.
God help us.
ATHEISM IS A RELIGION!!!!
Newdow is pushing his religion on us.
I am calling the ACLU to stop this grave injustice Newdow is trying to place on me.
I wonder. What would happen if all of us sent Newdow a Christmas card and told him God loves him. Maybe he would get mad enough to try to file a lawsuit against all of us. The courts would see how insane he really is and put him in a little room where he couldn’t harm himself or anyone else.
God Bless America, God Save The Republic.
“I wonder. What would happen if all of us sent Newdow a Christmas card and told him God loves him.”
I suggested the same thing for the ACLU but some thought it a juvenile idea. (of course coming from my grandkids, it was.) But I still think it a good idea. I’m biased!
I’m all for it. In fact, I think I’m going to become a donating member of this guy’s “church.” I was raised an athiest and all I’ve ever gotten for it was crap my whole life from christians who could not concieve that I would grow up to be a moral, loving husband and father. God never had anything to do with it. I’m as American as any of you people are, and I never trusted in God.
Being a good father and husband won’t help you in the end, but that is another discussion. Being truly American, one would think we’d respect the things that this country stands for. Give me all of your money and stop spending it if you really want to protest. I get crapped on by atheists every day because I don’t do whatever “makes me happy”, or “makes me feel good.” I don’t believe that 4.2 billion years ago there was nothing, and then absolutely nothing exploded, so I’m an idiot as far as atheists go. Being a Christian isn’t about good morals. Satan is not opposed to good morals. He’s opposed to Jesus Christ, and that is who Christianity is about. But because I put someone else above myself I’m a “dangerous voter”, a “Bible-thumper,” and a lot of other names I won’t post. There are two sides of that coin pal. Worship who and what you will but you are no more persecuted than any of us Christians. Exactly the oppostite given the content of this post. “In God we trust” is as apart of America as anything else our founding fathers established.
He goes and creates a phony Church so he can claim religious persecution.
and a tax exemption, too.
Sometimes I wish god would get back in the smitting (sp) business!
Good. Finally. I have been waiting for this day. Thank you Mr. Newdow!
~Abe
Perhaps if Mr Newdow finds our money so offending, he should stop using it.
I get crapped on by atheists every day…
Eww, gross! But, hey, to each his own I guess. If that’s how you get your jollies, Apostle, then, by all means, let your freak flag fly!
Trackback isn’t working. My take on this is here.
Whoops.

I think it is time for some of our intelligent friends in California (not the liberal morons we so often associate with that state), to come forward and start filing suit agains Michael Newdow for infringing on our right to worship as we see fit, our right to say the Pledge of Allegence in our schools and at our sporting events, and for bringing frivulous lawsuits, and tying up our courts with his rediculous ideals. He should be held accountable for his actions. When our courts start levying huge fines to his PERSONAL accounts, he will start to see, that HE does NOT declare what is right for the rest of us in this nation.
Sacramento, California
“In either 1806 or 1808 the Spanish explorer Gabriel Moraga discovered and named the Sacramento Valley and the Sacramento River after the Spanish term for ’sacrament’, specifically, after “the Most Holy Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ,” referring to the Roman Catholic sacrament of the Eucharist.”
Guess that should be his next target.
Who has his address
While claiming U.S. coins and dollar bills “excludes people who don’t believe in God,” I am sure he has no problem spending U.S. currency.
“He goes and creates a phony Church so he can claim religious persecution.”
Phony? Do you even understands why he acts as he does? He’s tired of the real phonies. Every day, I see more so-called “Christians” cloaking their bigotry and hate in heir faith than you could fit into Death Valley. If all of these [edited] can attribute their homophobia, misogyny, general sexual-hang-ups to Jesus (who would have slapped them for it), then Newdow is well within the bounds of accepted standards to do the same.
The only reason this guy has a voice is because the media gives it to him and this Nation has become so PC that it (IMO) is one of the main enemies within.
This kind of thing really ticks me off.
Excuse me Bertrand, but it sounds like your stereo typing. Unless you were able to dig up dirt on every Christian in America, the extreme generalization you just made constitutes bigotry. That is typical “blame Christians for what we do” garbage. We don’t fear gays, we deny them marital rights, and as long as the MAJORITY agrees, the will of the people must stand. Atheism is a religion. It is a matter of belief, and the govenrment should not advocate it. By the way, if “In God We Trust” offends you, tough. There is no “right to not be offended” in our country. If it doesn’t hurt society, then its fair game. If we have to put up with baby killings then you can put up with our religion. Or get out. You liberals are the fakes. Blaming the Christians and the right for racism while you separate them from the rest of society and make them think they can’t provide for themselves, and that the government should do it for them. Claiming the war in Iraq is a farce when your heroes looked at the same intelligence and decided to fight. Screaming about separation of church and state (that doesn’t exist) all the while cramming evolution, a matter of faith that hasn’ been proven, down our kids throats. Pretending to stand for human rights, while you’d let millions of Iraqis get gassed to death, and treat 9/11 like it was a prank. Grow up, take off the tin foil hat, accept Jesus as your Savior, and do something useful.
Well, apostle, I suspect that you are either a teenager, a schizophrenic, or a parodist, but no matter. You invoked all sorts of issues I never addressed: infanticide, liberalism, the War in Iraq, evolution, human rights, 9/11 and more. Most of it was word salad, but I did catch this nugget:
“Atheism is a religion.”
In that case, explain what it is atheists believe in.
As far as the “In God We Trust” issue is concerned, I couldn’t care less what my money says as long as it spends. Newdow probably doesn’t either, but he surely wants to see how Christians — who have lobbied long and loud for special treatment on the sole basis of a musty old book of allegories and lies — feel when the shoe is on the other foot. Fun, ain’t it?
Mr. Newdow is the perfect example of why demonizing the ACLU is an idea whose time has come. If you read some of the above responses from lefties you’ll get the picture. Their whining goes something like this; Christians were mean to me, Christians are bigots or Christians are hypocrites Blah,Blah,Blah. So, here is some return fire for the lefties; Your small minded cry-baby nature is revealed in the pettiness of your cause. When these losers grow up maybe then I’ll have respect for their feelings.
Actually, I’m a married adult attending Bible college. Nice stereotype yet again. As for atheism: they believe there is no God. That requires faith, since there is no proof. As far as the Bible being a book of lies, prove it. Don’t use spin. Don’t misinterpret it. Don’t take one passage out of context and forget the rest. PROVE IT. Come on. Atheists require proof. That’s why they don’t believe in God. So there must be PROOF that there isn’t one. You must have proof that the Bible is full of lives right? Wrong. You don’t. I believe its atheists asking for special treatment, since they are the ones ignoring the Constitution, Declaraton of Independance, and federal law. Nice try. Get an education. What atheists are asking for is unconstitutional, hence illegal. The majority has already spoken time and again. This is a Republic, not a Communist society. But libs don’t care about our law or our Constitution. All you have is spin. But that’s okay, we’ll keep winning elections. Atheism, and liberalism are about to die the death they so richly deserve, despite this idiot’s useless battles.
Bertrand why dont you tell me a teenager when I tell you if you had any brains you would take them out and play with them. I dont think 70 years old is a teen ager stupid.
One day, a 6 year old girl was sitting in a classroom. The teacher was explaining evolution to the children. The teacher asked a little boy
TEACHER; Tommy do you see the tree outside?
TOMMY: Yes
TEACHER; Tommy do you see the grass outside.
TOMMY: Yes
TEACHER: Go outside and look up and see if you can see the sky
TOMMY: OK. (He returned a few minutes later) Yes, I saw the sky.
TEACHER: Did you see GOD?
TOMMY: No.
TEACHER: That my point. We can’t see GOD because HE isn’t there. HE just doesn’t exist.
The little girl spoke up wanting to ask the boy some questions. The teacher agreed.
LITTLE GIRL: Tommy do you see the tree outside?
TOMMY: Yes
LITTLE GIRL: Tommy Did you see the grass? Did you see the sky?
TOMMY: Yessssss
LITTLE GIRL: Tommy do you see the Teacher?
TOMMY: Yes
LITTLE GIRL: Do you see her brains?
TOMMY: No
LITTLE GIRL: THEN ACCORDING TO WHAT WE WERE TAUGHT TODAY, SHE EOES NOT HAVE ONE……..
II CORINTHIANS 5:7 “FOR WE WALK BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT
“As for atheism: they believe there is no God.”
No, apostle. Try again. I asked you what it was atheists supposedly believed in, and you replied that atheists DON’T believe in God. Lost souls like you believe in God. Atheists DO NOT believe in God. They reject it. That – the tortured gargling sounds you’re making notwithstanding – is an important distinction, and I think you should take some time off from your pseudocollege and enroll in a course in basic logic.
Why is this relevant? Read on:
“Atheists require proof. That’s why they don’t believe in God. So there must be PROOF that there isn’t one.”
Okay, then. The world is 14 billion years old. Man shares an ape-like common ancestor with chimpanzees and bonobos. The shroud of Turin kept by the Holy See is forgery. The writers of the Gospels copied lots of text from one another. Christ was supposed to come back within the lifetimes of his followers, and he’s now two millennia late.
PROVE that these statements are wrong. You can’t? Of course not; they’re facts. But I could also demand that you PROVE that there are no giant purple elephants orbiting Jupiter, and you wouldn’t be able to do that, either. See the holes in your “reasoning” yet?
As for the Bible being a load of crap, I don’t need to prove that. (”Proofs” are for mathematicians, by the way; scientists rely on evidence.) It isn’t even internally consistent, much less in tune with the natural world. But whatever floats your boat – as long as you understand you’re not going to get abortion tossed or expunge the multitude of findings of modern science, which renders religion increasingly feeble and superfluous.
Hey Bertie, go live in your worthless little bubble without purpose. No one here is trying to save your soul, preach the gospel, or anything like that to you, and neither is the words “In God We Trust” on the money. Spend your money on your religion of science, those three words printed on it shouldn’t stop you.
“Hey Bertie, go live in your worthless little bubble without purpose.”
Why would you presume my life is purposeless? Because I hold views that reflect the world as it as, rather than as “God” would have it? Because I refuse to cling to the idea that I should live my life in accordance with the whims and principles of a nonexistent entity? What could be more purposeless than structuring one’s world view around a phantasm?
“No one here is trying to save your soul, preach the gospel, or anything like that to you…”
Actually, apostle told me straight up to accept Jesus as my Savior in comment #56, but this is irrelevant. That is the least senseless thing he has ejaculated so far.
“…and neither is the words “In God We Trust” on the money. Spend your money on your religion of science, those three words printed on it shouldn’t stop you.”
Actually, I couldn’t care less what’s written on the money. The world is full of stupid things with no intrinsic value (”God,” Pekingese dogs, eyebrow rings) but ignore them and they’re harmless. One day, when science and humanism have advanced together to the point at which society at large is finally ready to chuck the organized religion idea, our currency may change. But for now it does its job fine — they would put Peanuts characters on it, for all I care.
My question is, why do people care what Newdow thinks? Does he have a pipeline to the secretary of the Treasury?
Hey Bertie – refer to comments 63 & 64
You say you cannot see god so there is no one. I cannot see air but I know it is there.
I understand that Michael Newstupid is a medical doctor, I would like him to explain to me why this happened http://www.kfor.com/Global/story.asp?s=4095925 It states that the first thing the kid said after the accident was pray for me, but that did not help because there is no god, but not doctor can explain it.
I wish that I could find the news article again, but the ACLU filed a lawsuit against a county I believe it to be in Virginia whereas they wanted the words IN GOD WE TRUST removed from the court house. The words were even bigger then the word court house.
The Supreme Court ruled that it was constitution because it was our national motto. If not the words IN GOD WE TRUST on our money not our national motto.
Excuse me Bertie, you didn’t prove anything. You can’t prove the world is 14 billion years old. Scientists haven’t even done that yet, which is why it is still taught as a THEORY. You are also asking me to prove a religion based on faith. You are the one making claims that need demonstrating. You also can’t prove that the writers of the Gospels copied lots of text from one source. That was stupid. Historians haven’t even proved that yet. Nice try, thanks for coming out you poster child for idiocy.
I think Michael Newdow just wants the publicity he gets for doing stuff like this. He doesn’t feel he is important enough just being Michael Newdow. How many people actually read what is on the money? You look at it to see what the denomination is so you can pay for something or to invest it. Regardless of what his reason for doing this Michael Newdow and the ACLU must be STOPPED before they destroy our country.
In response to Bertrand Russell on November 15th, 2005 @ 10:40 pm. You say “athiests require proof?” and “scientists rely on evidence.” It is funny how no evidence has proven evolution and the “Cambrian Explosion” and the DNA of yeast is evidence against Darwin’s theory of evolution. But that is aside from the point. Our forefathers did not have the luxury of our modern technology to try and “prove” or “disprove” God; they lived by faith alone. With their passion for the Creator and liberty, they formed this great country; one nation Under God! This can never be stripped from history, as it was and always will be the foundation upon which it was built.
