Wanted: Intelligent Commenters
Posted on November 9, 2005
Sometimes it gets discouraging around here. I know I have readers, but I don’t know what they think. I know how it is, in my work/home situation, it is very difficult to even read that many other blogs, much less comment. Trakcbacks here are something, but commenters are scarce. Every once in a while I’ll get an idiot troll that will fire up a few responses, but I’m just wondering…how many supporters do we have out there?
So don’t send a trackback to this post. Leave us a comment, tell us a little about yourself, why you support our cause, your ideas on fighting the ACLU, your own blog, etc. Lets all get to know each other a little better here.

I love, and hate, reading ‘Stop the ACLU’. I love it because it delivers relevant commentary and significant news about the secular progressive attacks on our culture. I hate it because it reminds me of where America is and where some want us to go.
That saddens me beyond despair because that destination is contrary to who I am, everything I believe, and who America was. I will do everything I can to slow, hopefully halt and reverse, this course.
I just finished my grad degree from the College of William & Mary. Through my education, my conservative values became clarified and I learned to defend myself. My career is such that I write under a pseudo-name, JR. To do otherwise, well, I’d never get another job. Speaking of that, I’m looking.
I started blogging after watching LaShawn Barber and John Hinderaker (Powerlineblog) on C-span. They talked about their blogs almost as a labor of love. It intrigued me and I wanted to learn more. I was personally curious to see if I could write to interest myself (not to mention others).
My wife (of 4 years; no kids yet) thinks of my blogging as a hobby. I think of it as an outlet for growth; hopefully influence. This community of bloggers is more relational than I was expecting; but, its not a relationship of looks, but of words and ideas and thoughts. Would it be amiss to call it…beautiful?
We are all just regular folks making it day by day; on the way we commend some, combat some, but we all grow on this journey. I grow more intrigued and amazed in blogging. I feel like I’ve only tasted a small piece of what will turn out to be a huge dessert.
I remember stumbling across Stop the ACLU in my blog’s infancy. You welcomed me into the growing fold of supporters. Since then, I benefitted from visiting often. On both accounts, thanks.
Yeah, I read a bit of this site once in a great while….when I’m like, bored, or….ya’ know, grumpy.
I will try to stop by more.
The A.C.L.U and their ilk are systematically taking away everything that makes America, America.
No more Christmas, might piss off the sweet little Muslims. No more Halloween, don’t want to offend the Wiccans. No more Easter eggs they are high in cholesteral.
It’s just nuts.
Somebody has to stop these PC Nazi’s, and you seem to be doing a pretty good job. : )
Keep up the good work.
“Stop the ACLU” could use some suspense and should feature:
- Convenient access to progress on stoppng the ACLU
- Number of signatures on the petition
- Senators and Reps you have contacted
- Senators’ and Reps’ responses to your attempts to contact them, nicely tabled up with “Firmly Aboard,” “Staunchly Against,” “Received a Clueless Form Letter in Response,” etc.
- A Wall of Shame for egregious ACLU actions, cases, wins, losses, positions
- A Wall of Shame for members of the ACLU, nationally, locally
- Local chapter memberships, where your readers can update, post egregious stuff, where other bloggers and pundits can quickly access material for their posts on the ACLU, and generally serve as a reference resource for the blogosphere/punditocracy
- Quotes denouncing the ACLU by prominent and credible solons, properly linked up to original sources
- Links to other bloggers who make any reference to ACLU outrages (bloggers will blog about the ACLU and research it, just because bloggers love to be linked to)
- A historical set of quotes with links to others bloggers that are on your sidebar: Eugene Volokh said this, Michelle Malkin subscribes to our position on that
- Your feel, maybe on a top-of-the-page thermostat graphic on how progress is coming on Stopping the ACLU! Should we be getting excited? Do we need to put our shoulders to the wheel?
- Paint some scenarios: If the ACLU were out of business, such-and-such would be a reality today! Nationally, state-by-state, in the Boy Scouts, in religion, in whatever.
- Take that quote by Instapundit down, and conduct an interview with him, and others, on how reform should progress, how the ACLU might be a fine organization if would just stop being funded by the Feds. Wouldn’t it be great to have an ACLU that actually fought for civil liberties, stood up for First Amendment rights, etc.?
Just the first things, top of the head. Go get ‘em, Tiger!
I read it everyday. It’s amazing and brilliant and helps me when I need to beat pro-ACLU people in the face with a shovel. This is my shovel. You write my shovel. Well done.
Hi, I wanted to apologise for not leacing you comments! I have tacked by to Right Voices and now I have my own blog and see where you are coming from!
You have a wonderful sight and your posts are well thought out! Keep up the great work you do on behalf of all of us who support this very worthy cause!
Thank you all for the encouraging comments and suggestions. Its exhausting work, and I will do my best to try and incorporate some of your suggestions.
the poster “The Family” has got some good ideas. I’ll email you, Jay.
Hey Jay,
Thank you for all the hard spade work you do to unearth the heinous deeds of the ACLU.
I read your blog almost every day, though our blog focus is on illegal immigration, I’m often inspired by something I read on this here blog.
Thanks again for all your hard work, we at Freedom Folks stand with you.
Jake
please keep up the hard work fighting the ACLU. I know it can get discouraging and as a fellow blogger some times it feels like you are fighting alone, …..but please, keep it up!!!

I’m a constant lurker/reader for a few reasons….I’m a firm believer in immigration reform, I don’t hate Christians, I don’t believe in special treatment for any demographic, I don’t think activist groups should get taxpayer $$$ in court cases, I don’t give a crap about the civil rights of terrorists, and most importantly, I have common sense.
the ACLU contradicts everything I believe in, especially the common sense thing. Guess you can’t expect much more from a bunch of whacked out commies though.
p.s. – you do a great job on this site, which I found from your posts on LGF.
Yes, I’m a fellow lizardoid.
I’m a new reader, and I’ve really enjoyed reading the results of your hard work.
Thank you JohnJ, and moonbat monitor.
Moonbat monitor, I’m glad I’ve found a few supporters from LGF.
I am not a real person, I just play one in the blogosphere. Jay I love ya. Keep up the good work. Your site is very needed and does very well as a one-stop place to learn about the ACLU’s current activities and how they are advancing their agenda. God Bless!
Not only do I read the blog- but I tell others to read the blog. Like my sheriff’s office. Right after the Ohio ACLU pulled that crap on them, I called them to let them know they had my support and that for further injustices committed by the ACLU they needed to look here.
I just don’t comment much. Sorry!
Usually leave trackbacks because, well, I want more traffic. But I saw that you’re also in PA — where are you?
I’m in New Cumberland, where are you?
