My Blog Went Kaput – Marine Team Updates
Well, here I am guestblogging at this nice (bigger) blog, so I better sound intelligent and interesting lest I give myself away. I’m Holly Aho, and currently my blog Soldiers’ Angel – Holly Aho is down. Too much traffic I was told – my webhosts were afraid my blog would crash their server. So this is a good thing despite the fact that in the middle of a wonderful fundraiser to help our injured soldiers my website (and lead blog for the Marine Team) crashed and burned. I’d rather there was so much interest in helping our wounded vets that my webserver can’t handle all the traffic, instead of the reverse.
Stop the ACLU is on the Project Valour-IT Marine Team for the fundraiser competition, and they graciously offered to let me guest post here until my blog is back up and running. (Thank-you!!) For those of you just dying to read my blog and pour through my archives (lol!), my blog will be back up and running – hopefully – by tomorrow afternoon at the very latest. However, as I had to move it to a new server it will be running somewhat sketchy through the 10th. So if you’re so inclined to visit my blog over the next few days and get an error page just hit refresh and see if that fixes the problem.
Ok – on to more exciting stuff! Ideas for raising additional funds for the Marine Team in the Project Valour-IT fundraising competition….
I have started a few auctions at Overstock.com’s auction site. 100% of the winning bids will be donated to Project Valour-IT on behalf of the Marine Team. I have started my auctions at extremely low starting bids – so if you are so inclined, go check them out and bid! I will be adding a few more auctions tonight and tomorrow so check back again to see what else is available. Remember – 100% of the winning bid for each auction will go to Project Valour-IT, so bid generously!! My artwork sells for much more than these starting bids, ranging in individual sales from $300 – $2,000, so this is a bargain as well as a great way to raise money for the fundraiser.
If you would like to do a few auctions of your own and have a seller’s account at Ebay, Overstock.com or any other selling sites you like, let me know when you list and I’ll promote your auction(s) as well.
Bloggers – offer incentives for bidders such as free ad space on your blog, or whatever you can come up with!
The Marine Team is currently still in 3rd place in the fundraiser, although we doggedly refuse to slide behind. Let’s make it first place!! Remember, USMC’s birthday is the 10th, and Veteran’s Day is the 11th, so let’s make these special days and honor the Marines by winning this competition!
