Sondra K’s Mission

Sondra K asked me to help spread this around. How could I not?

The attack had also upturned other parts of his life. The Argentina-born immigrant, who moved to the United States as a child, was injured just eight days before he was to be sworn in as a U.S. citizen in a ceremony in Iraq.

Now, he’s in a bureaucratic black hole: Federal immigration officials wouldn’t renew his permanent resident card or tell him when he could reschedule the swearing-in ceremony. No one at the local U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office could tell him what to do next to get his citizenship papers, or even how to renew his immigration documents.

Gaya says he won’t let his injury define his life. On his lunch breaks at Fort Lewis, he uses a camera he bought from a pawn shop, venturing into the morning mist to snap shots of soldiers training.

Look, the least WE can do is gift him a decent camera. That’s simple.

Now let’s get our asses in gear and get this guys citizenship issue taken care of.
I’ll be writing Congressman Adam Smith (he’s a member of
the House Armed Services Committee) and ask that you all do too.

I’ll keep you posted as I gather more information. I think while we get some letters going I’ll work on setting up a fund for Sgt. Gaya….it won’t take much and I think it would be a fine gesture. It’s the least WE can do.

Now go read the whole story….

And PLEASE help me spread this story around. This is just so wrong.

I’m sorry, but I have been practicing immigration law for 27 years. While this story appears to be heart wrenching, it is just not accurate. Yes, since he missed his Oath Ceremony, he will need to reschedule, but he should be rescheduled at the next available Oath Ceremony. There may be some delays, but to say they will not renew his Green Card is just not true. Stop the grand standing and just hire an immigration lawyer to work it out. You don’t need the congressman.

Just hire an immigration lawyer what a laugh. If lawyers did not charge such outragious prices more of us could get justice in the courts, but no the lawyers must have their money before any justice is served. Dont get me started on what I think of judges who get 400.00 per hour to referee a case where the injured party only gets 5.15 per hour the minimum wage.

I’m confused. I thought this site was about trying to stop ACLU type activity, yet here you are trying to get the U.S. government to give citizenship to yet another foreigner. Isn’t that much of what the ACLU is all about? The bleeding heart type of thing? You know, helping the POOR, POOR souls in other countries who have it sooooooooooo bad and need to be brought here so we can deprive our own people of resources we need in order to give them to the immigrants, whether they are here legally or not??? That’s the public dole attitude I thought conservatives were against. Why not help people to make their own countries better so they actually want to stay there instead of allowing/encouraging them to come here by rewarding them. How does that old saying go? Something like: Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, but teach him to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

    Sharon, you’re a fricken idiot.
I won’t even waste my key strokes on you.

And David, if it’s that simple why don’t you put all that 27 years of experience to use and take care of this with a wave of your hand.

Jay, where do you get these people?
    Jebus.

SondraK – David will not put his 27 years of experience to use because there has not been a cashier’s check of $5,000.00 given to him for a retainer.

The link is wrong in my trackback…

    Should be

Might I add that the minimum wage individual had to pay the $400.00 to the Judge even after he won. The same should be for the ACLU when they win but that is that way it is the rich get richer and the poor just get screwed.

I don’t know if this is necessary, but my Senator says he can’t help Sgt. Gaya without Sgt. Gaya’s written permission and he sent me a form for Sgt. Gaya to fill out.

Anybody know how I can get this form to Sgt. Gaya? Thanks.
