"I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would complain about random searches on a subway. "

Do you ride a massive public transit system? I think you would understand how useless it is.

"The 19 terrorists American officials are searching for right now could already have been allowed to walk onto our New York City trains and detonate their bombs."

If the police are looking you then they have the particularized suspicion to make the search and seizure reasonable, and thus legit.

I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would complain about random searches on a subway. The ACLU doesn't file suit against the airlines for random searches, yet they complain about random searches on subways. If there were ever a case of the sheer evil that lawyers can perpetuate, this would be it.
