Washington Monument Bomb Threat!
D.C. Police Evacuate Washington Monument
The Washington Monument was evacuated Friday after a bomb threat was called in to local police.
U.S. Park Police Sgt. Scott Fear said the call came in at 2:24 p.m. EDT and the monument was evacuated a short time later. Bomb-sniffing dogs were called in and two blocks between Constitution and Independence avenues were closed off.
An initial search turned up nothing worrisome.
A law enforcement official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because other agencies were handling the case, said the credibility of the threat was low but officials did not want to take any chances.

they intercepted a letter that alerted them to this activity … gee so now any little thing everyone is watching , I guess they are taking no more chances and I do not blame them , better safe than sorry ..
sounds like another dud, to make everyone get complacent. The Wash Monument is granite and steel and won’t buckle too easy.
the washington monument is the tallest free standing stone structure in the world. i.e. it aint made of steel, jake
This is sorta creeping me out. I wonder if this is just a test like in the movie “Under Seige” where a fake one was done to test response time.
Grr…if it is some punk kids though, I hope Uncle Sam finds them and gives them a whoopen that they will never forget!
