The Boy Scouts are for the Boys. The Boy Scouts are also open to women. Those women are usually Den Mothers for the younger boys between 7 to 9 years of age, and may even work as Webelo Leaders for 9 and 1/2 to 10 and 1/2 years of age after which comes the Boy Scouts. I have seen Mothers that wanted their son(s) in the Boy Scouts actually work with Patrols, and in a few rare instances as Troop Leaders. These rare instances are when there is usually a male figure not available. This is usually due to a leader being forced to leave due to job committment, being transferred to a new location, or death. In 1968 I was talked into becoming a Cub Scout Leader by the woman, who was functioning in that capacity, because none of the fathers of the Pack were available to participate. The ACLU needs to get their information correct; instead of grasping at straws and trying to take away the right of a select few.
