The Election 2012 Raaaaacism Meme Grows

We knew that Left, the Obama campaign, and their media syncophants would play the race card: what else do they have? Obama pushed the meme a bit himself the other day when he appeared on The View, stating that “when you have a name like mine, the race is going to be a bit tight.” Couldn’t have anything to do with your agenda and policies, and performance, could it, champ? Then there’s this (via PJ Tattler)

(CNN) “My heart says he will win here, but my head says it’s going to be awfully tough for him,” said Gary Pearce, a longtime Democratic consultant and adviser to former Gov. Jim Hunt. “This is a tight state for him. Race is part of it. The economy is a big problem. Four years ago he was new, he was exciting. He was hope and change. That has worn off now. The glow is gone. It’s going to be tough for him to catch magic in the bottle again.”

The economy is part of it, but, it’s mostly raaaaacism. Then there’s this Colbert King op-ed at the Washington Post, promoted on the WP’s Internet front page as “White like him”

Missing in his Liberty offering, as with some other Romney speeches, is any recognition — not praises, mind you, but simple acknowledgment — that 21st-century America is more than a white, middle-class country. (snip)

But what does the man who seeks to lead this country have to say about, and to, this rapidly changing nation of diverse people with diverse interests and needs?

Thus far, Romney’s thoughts and policy prescriptions seem focused on America’s largest — and slowest-growing — racial group: his own. (snip)

The question is much broader and more significant: When Mitt Romney thinks and speaks of Americans, do those who don’t look like him even come to mind?

Maybe, unlike Democrats, he looks out and sees Americans, not class, race, and interest groups…..na, gotta be raaaaacism.

Their recent Jeremiah Wright references were, of course, raaaaacism, not a serious inquiry initiated by Wright after it came to light that the Obama campaign (supposedly) attempted to bribe Wright to just go away. Attacks on Mormonism, well, those are OK, of course.

Ideology and “what works”

Like The “Progressives” of the early 20th century, President Obama and many of his fellow Leftists these days are quite fond of making the claim that they are simply motivated by “what works” and are not driven by ideology the way conservatives are. The philosophical emptiness of such claims is thoroughly amusing and I have always seen it as just too shallow to be worth a reply. Just how empty the claim is can be shown by a simple question: “How do you define “what works”?” — or — “When do you know that something has “worked”?”

The inevitable answer to that has to be in terms of ideology: “Whether something leads to greater economic equality”, would certainly be a common Leftist answer to my question. But that simply shows that the Leftist subscribes to an ideology that economic equality is desirable.

In his latest book, however, Jonah Goldberg is marginally more respectful of the claim. He first documents the claim at some length but instead of wiping it off with a simple question, he devotes a whole chapter to refuting it. And his conclusion is that both Left and Right have ideologies — but ideologies that are different.

Jonah does note however that in the past it was in fact conservatives who abjured ideology and customarily pointed to Leftists as ideologues. And I think that view is essential to understanding conservatism. In his book Inside Right, Ian Gilmour, once Lord Privy Seal of England under Margaret Thatcher, offers an historical study of conservatism and concludes that conservatives are “trimmers”: People with ideas that change with circumstances without much in the way of pre-established doctrines or policy consistency.

In my own historical study of conservative thought I noted many instances of such claims from conservative thinkers and concluded that conservatism can only be understood as a psychological disposition — a tendency towards cautiousness — and that different policy responses may be generated by that underlying psychological conservatism from time to time — though a desire for individual liberty is a common outcome of that psychological disposition.

So I side with the earlier conservative thinkers and say that it is conservatives who are the non-ideological ones. The Leftist claim on that distinction becomes mere trickery. They think that by claiming to be something that is really true of conservatives, they can gain some added respectibility for their policies and deflect attention from whom the real practical people are. It is a sort of reverse-projection: Instead of seeing their own faults in others, they see the strengths of others in themselves.

So I see Jonah as too kind to the Left. They are just crooks who will say anything if it will get them power. Conservatives should not let the Left get away with stealing our clothes. And the best way to do that is to keep asking them my questions above.

Conservatives don’t have to make broad claims about standing for “what works”. Rather we just deal with individual issues as they arise and point out what the consequences of a Leftist response to those issues is likely to be. The track record of socialism is so dismal that that is not hard to do. If anything engenders caution, it is socialism

Obama: “Christ” for Gay Agenda

By Sharon Sebastianwww.DarwinsRacists.com

Neither Michelle nor Barack Obama truly embraced religion as “church was not their thing,” says Barack Obama’s former pastor for 20 years. According to Jeremiah Wright, they were in it for the politics. Though this is old news for people who could never square Obama’s professions of faith with his actions, it is additional confirmation from the outspoken Wright who knew Obama intimately.

As he attempts to take Christ out of Christianity, there is no greater evidence that Barack Obama needs the prayers of all Christians. With a winning smile and adept cunningness, Obama’s willingness to use deceit and inaccuracies to “reset” the Christian faith for his political gain reveals a public war against the God of the Bible.

Where does Barack Obama mislead? He has propelled homosexuality to the front of his agenda. That Barack Obama the man supports homosexuality is his choice. Obama’s actions, however, are equally anti-Christian as they are pro-homosexuality. That Obama uses the name of Christ to imply that Christianity in anyway approves of homosexuality is an open assault on the Word of God. It would be the same if Obama did so in regard to adultery or greed or any sin that God forbids through His written Word. Obama explicitly stated that he supports homosexuality because: “You know, when we think about our faith, the thing at root that we think about is, not only Christ sacrificing Himself on our behalf, but it’s also the Golden Rule.” Broken down, Obama implies that Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross so that the sin of homosexuality could be pursued without conscience and with impunity. The Bible clearly states God’s abhorrence of homosexuality, adultery, greed and other sins of a fallen humanity. What the Bible says regarding homosexuality:

Leviticus 18:22 — 22You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.

Romans 1:24-27 — 24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. 26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 — 9Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? 10Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

The Bible warns that leading others astray is the greater sin. Tossing the name of Christ into a political statement during the middle of an election year fools no one but the uninformed. The attack on God and God’s Word is nothing new. Obama joins legions of those with the hubris to supplant the God of the universe with their own self-glorification. Their easy fix is to circumvent or change the meaning of scripture. In regard to homosexuality, God’s message is clear.

A few select men, named in the Bible, were used by the Holy Spirit to write down God’s word — with scripture making it abundantly clear that anyone who adds to or takes away from it — is a curse to God. Does Obama misquote scripture out of an ignorance of Christianity? Or, as some have written, is he perpetrating a vehemently anti-Christian act of aggression against the Bible? It is a combination of the two as Barack Obama consistently attempts to hijack Christianity, transform it into something it is not, take its meaning out of context and use it as political fodder.

Blogger Gets Ripped Off by Newspaper, Gets Satisfaction on Video

-By Warner Todd Huston

Duane Lester of AllAmericanBlogger recently wrote an excellent expose about some financial troubles in the Holt County, Missouri Sheriff’s office. It was so well received that the Oregon Observer, a small paper in Missouri, wanted to cover the story, too. So, what did the paper do…?

Why the paper stole Duane’s entire post and printed it in its paper, grammatical errors and all. Worse, they never bothered to mention where the article came from or who wrote it.

That’s right, the Oregon Observer just stole the whole thing neither paying Duane for his work nor even giving him a proper byline.

So, Duane took his video camera in and asked them what’s the deal with that…

I love it. Got paid, too! Excellent work, Duane.

My favorite was the condescension that this tiny one-room newspaper owner had for bloggers! The guy’s main employee is his elderly mother, fer cripes sakes. The New York Times he ain’t! It makes me wonder if he’s newspapering from his mother’s basement?

Now if only he could get talk radio guys to stop stealing us blogger’s work without attribution! Way to go, Duane!

But seriously, this incident shows the growing power of blogs in that this newspaper, as Podunk as it is, saw the professionalism in the original posting and noticed that many voices in the country were talking about the story. This small paper’s owner, himself a long-time journalist, understood the value and the “real” journalism in Duane’s report.

Further, it shows that bloggers must stand up for themselves because if they don’t all those “real” journalists will simply steal blogger’s work and present it as their own.

Queen Pelosi: Don’t Protect Military Religious Leaders From Decisions Against Their Faith

What she’s saying is that there she prefers laws that restrict people from the free practice of their religion

(CNS News) House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said she stands with the White House in opposing a provision in the House defense authorization bill that would prohibit anyone in the military from ordering a chaplain to act against his or her “conscience, moral principles, or religious beliefs” or against the religious beliefs of the denomination to which he or she belongs.

Pelosi described the conscience-protection provision as a “fraud.”

The provision is broadly written to deny anyone in the armed forces the authority to “direct, order, or require a chaplain to perform any duty, rite, ritual, ceremony, or function” that is contrary to his or her conscience, moral principles or religious beliefs or the principles or beliefs of his or her religious denomination.

Among other things, the provision would protect a chaplain from deleterious career repercussions if he or she refused to perform a same-sex marriage ceremony because it violated their religious beliefs.

Shockingly, many chaplains might have a problem with being forced to marry gays, just like gays might have a problem with not being allowed to be married.

Interestingly, in Pelosi’s world, if chaplains should have no dispensation to follow their faith, then “conscientious objectors” should have no dispensation to avoid combat duties based on their beliefs. Fair is fair.

Altercation Between Zimmerman, Martin “Ultimately Avoidable”, Drugs In Martin’s System

More evidence released in the case

(CNN) Just over two weeks after the fatal shooting, and less than a month before an arrest was made, police in Sanford, Florida, urged prosecutors to take George Zimmerman into custody after arguing his killing of Trayvon Martin was “ultimately avoidable.”

This disclosure came out Thursday, part of a wealth of information released that is related to the case, including the medical’s examiner’s finding that the 17-year-old Martin had traces of drugs in his system in an autopsy conducted hours after his death.

Overall, the newly released material paints the most complete picture yet of how investigators built the case, as well as its complexity. The police perspective was most succinctly stated in a March 13 “capias request” — a request that someone be taken into custody — sent to the state’s attorney. It speaks to the fact that Zimmerman ignored a police dispatcher’s advice not to chase Martin, as well as his communications with Martin prior to the shooting.

What kinds of drugs?

Martin’s blood contained THC, which is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, according to autopsy results released Thursday. The autopsy was conducted February 27, the day after the teenager was shot dead.

A little something in there for everyone. Zimmerman could have retreated. Martin had been smoking marijuana at some point (note, it stays in the system for up to 30 days), which highlights that he wasn’t some angelic little darling.

That said, can the prosecution make a case for 2nd degree murder, or did they vastly over-reach?

Foolish Naivete: Sen. Coburn ‘Believes’ Obama Will Become Entitlement Reformer in 2nd Term

Republican Senator Tom Coburn has just completed his transformation into a laughing stock. In an interview with the Washington Post’s Ezra Klein, Coburn claimed that he fully believes that President Obama will become an “entitlement reformer” in his second term.

At the end of Klein’s first part of the interview he asks Coburn if Republicans will do any better to “compromise” with Obama if Obama wins a second term. Here is Coburn’s absurd reply:

We’ve had conversations where he’s told me he’ll go much further than anyone believes he’ll go to solve the entitlement problem if he can get the compromise. And I believe him. I believe he would.

This is the single dumbest thing I’ve ever seen a Republican say. The naivete and stupidity of this naïf is the most gobsmackingly stupid I’ve ever seen.

Obama a “reformer”? If Coburn really does believe this he reveals a startling lack of good sense. Obama has made an entire career out of gladhanding his opponents and in private one-on-one talks telling them exactly what they want to hear. He is soothing, assuring, even tempered. And he always, always lies through his teeth.

Even when he was in the Illinois Senate he did this. He’d seem so reasonable and good natured in his interactions. He always seemed to be willing to compromise. And in every vote he’d vote the hard-line, left-wing way.

Obama is not a compromiser but he is a hard-line leftist, a big government guy. The thought that he’ll do anything to reform entitlements, the supporting pillar of the Democrat Party, is absurd. If anything he’ll look to keep the status quo, but he is more likely to want to enlarge such programs.

Further, President Obama has shown not a single sign that he’s interested in any actual reform of practically anything much less entitlements. He’s a government hog, not a reformer.

Lastly, you must realize that once re-elected, Obama will have even less reason to compromise with Republicans. He’ll be wholly unbounded by the need to cater to voters and will use his second term for “legacy” issues, items that he wants to push forward at all costs – costs that won’t include worrying about voters.

That Coburn “believes” in Obama calls the Senator’s intelligence, maybe even his sanity, seriously into question.

Obama Budget So Popular Not One Democrat Voted For It

In fact, budgets are so unpopular that not one Democrat cast any vote in favor of a budget

(Washington Times) President Obama’s budget suffered a second embarrassing defeat Wednesday, when senators voted 99-0 to reject it.

Coupled with the House’s rejection in March, 414-0, that means Mr. Obama’s budget has failed to win a single vote in support this year.

Republicans forced the vote by offering the president’s plan on the Senate floor.

All sorts of ObamaZombies have tried to position this as some sort of GOP gimmick, forcing the Senate Dems to actually *GASP* vote on budgets. The Mahablog, The Politico, and many others highlight this vote as being a gimmick, as not being fair. It’s not like voting is what Congress is supposed to do. Along with actually passing a budget, which is kinda required by law.

Anyhow, Powerline points out

Four different Republican budgets were taken up by the Senate. The House budget (commonly referred to as the Ryan budget) was voted down 41-58. The vote on Pat Toomey’s budget was 42-47; the vote on Rand Paul’s budget was 16-83; and the vote on Mike Lee’s budget was 17-82. The common denominator was that no Democrat had the courage to vote for any of them.

John Hinderaker also provides this handy dandy quote from Jeff Session

Today, before the whole nation, the majority party running the Senate effectively declared that as long as they’re in charge this country will not have a budget.

Their message is simple: Send Washington more money. Don’t ask us what we’ll do with it. They’re determined to avoid public accountability as our nation spends its way to financial disaster.

If there is no budget, then why do The People have to send them tax money? There is no accountability, we have no idea what they will do with our money. But, if you fail to send tax money to them, you’ll be in legal trouble. If they shirk their legal duties, well, they surely won’t hold themselves responsible.

Latest Democrat Distractions: Torture And JP Morgan

They darned sure don’t want to talk about the economy, which, under their stewardship, crashed when they assumed control of Congress. When adding a Democrat president to the mix, they added legislation that didn’t help alleviate the recession, and made the private business environment toxic. The recession officially ended in June 2009, yet the United States has wallowed in pathetic conditions since. So, what now? Two from The Hill

The Senate Intelligence Committee plans to finish a long-awaited report on “enhanced interrogation techniques” this summer, reviving the debate over whether the United States has engaged in torture.

The panel’s lengthy report has been more than three years in the making and examines controversial interrogation techniques such as water boarding and sleep deprivation.

The release of the report is likely to move the issue of enhanced interrogation to the forefront of the political debate as the parties vie for control of Congress and the White House.

I think we can expect Senate hearings on this, calling forth witnesses, subpoenaing former interrogators and Bush era officials in order to create a circus and throw some red meat to their base. Republicans point out that we wouldn’t have gotten Osama Bin Laden without the use of enhanced interrogation methods. It’s a cute distraction, eh? However, Repubulicans will be able to point out that the Senate Democrats haven’t held hearings on Fast and Furious, a program which ended up killing Americans.

Democratic candidates are using JPMorgan’s $2 billion loss in campaign attacks against Wall Street, a trend liberal groups predict will escalate between now and election day.

Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren (D) led the charge earlier this week by calling for a “new Glass-Steagall Act” that would limit what types of trades banks can be involved in. She followed that with a radio ad touting her work on Wall Street reform that said, “she told all the Wall Street banks to clean up their act.”

While it would probably make sense to create a separation between holding banks and trading banks, there was nothing illegal in the loss. Furthermore, perhaps Warren should stop taking Wall Street money.

New Mexico House candidate Eric Griego (D), a liberal netroots favorite in a tough primary race, released his own ad on Tuesday calling for “Wall Street bankers who broke the law go to jail.”

Perhaps Griego could point out who broke which law. So far, being a fool and making bad investments isn’t illegal.

The article goes on to discuss how many “progressive” organizations think this will become a campaign issue deep into general election time. I say to the Democrats “go for it.” It’ll give Romney and the Republicans a chance to highlight Obama’s own donations from Wall Street, investment bankers, links to Jamie Dimon, etc. Also, they’ll have the opportunity to highlight the enormous amounts of taxpayer money Democrats and Obama have wasted on failed projects, including the weatherization scheme, Solyndra, and First Solar. Are you better off now than you were before the $800 billion Stimulus?

Transparency? Secret, Soros, Left-Wing, 1% Summit Meeting Held Behind Closed Doors

-By Warner Todd Huston

A luxury resort in Miami, Florida with police-guarded closed doors was the home of a secret George Soros-backed summit attended by deep-pocketed left-wing donors over the weekend of May 12. They met to plan their strategy for the 2012 elections and beyond. Yes, it was all hush hush and secret-like — so much for all that “transparency” those lefties are always braying about.

The event hosted by the leftist group Democracy Alliance was reported upon by the Washington Free Beacon from afar. I say from afar because the Soros-paid group refused the reporters access to the event.

Holding true to their hoary claims of the need for an open and transparent political system, the cadre of lefties had armed guards turn away reporters of the Beacon who tried to gain access to the summit after-party. The Beacon’s reporters were even harassed in front of the hotel by the rent-a-cops paid by Soros and his pals to keep the summit secret.

Attendees of the summit include a who’s who of left-wing One Percenters and Union thugs, including:

  • Former Service Employees International Union Chief Andy Stern
  • George Soros Spokesman Michael Vachon
  • Media Matters Executive VP, Ari Rabin-Havt
  • Neera Tanden, President of The Center for American Progress
  • Former Representative Tom Perriello (D, Vir.)
  • Former White House Advisor Van Jones
  • Former Rep. Alan Grayson (D., Fla.)

These and a long list of investment managers, left-wing think tankers, Obama administration advisors, and other members of the lefty fringe were noted by the Beacon.

Almost no reports of this conference were made by the Old Media, though, as the Beacon notes, the New York Times did report that that the conference was to be held. Still, The Times neither reported who was in attendance nor where it was to be held in order to help the Soros event maintain its secrecy — a benefit they’d never have offered a supposedly secret conservative event.

With all this secrecy it is most interesting to note how these same people are constantly scolding conservatives for not being “transparent” in their reporting of what they donate and to whom.

It isn’t surprising that the Old Media has helped Soros and his minions hide their secret event, though.

Obama Injects Himself Into Bios of Past Presidents on WH Website

-By Warner Todd Huston

As unbelievable as it may sound for the sheer arrogance and audacity of it all, President Obama has injected himself into the bios pages of all our past presidents on the official White House website. So, when you go to read about our past presidents you’ll also get a campaign blurb about The One, the Obammessiah, the Lightbringer. If this isn’t chutzpah, what is?

In his arrogance Obama has added a small section tooting his own horn into the bios of every president but Gerald Ford — likely because his web team just missed Ford’s entry, not because Ford is sacrosanct or anything.

For instance, here is what Obama had his webteam add to the White House bio of Ronald Reagan:

Did you know?

  • President Reagan designated Martin Luther King Jr. Day a national holiday; today the Obama Administration honors this tradition, with the First and Second Families participating in service projects on this day.
  • In a June 28, 1985 speech Reagan called for a fairer tax code, one where a multi-millionaire did not have a lower tax rate than his secretary. Today, President Obama is calling for the same with the Buffett Rule.

There are entries similar to this for every president.

Seth Mandel who posted early on Tuesday about this outrage joked that The One sees himself as equal or superior to every past president because he is carrying forward every accomplishment “since Coolidge.” He goes on to say, “No wonder he always seems so proud of himself.”

ABC’s Jake Tapper also skewers our swelled-headed president saying his additions are not “historical, but rather something else entirely.”

I’d suggest that “something else” is hubris.

Conservatives have had fun at the Messiah’s expense today, though. On Twitter the hashtag #ObamaHistory was started and jokes and ridicule of Obama abound. The RNC also got in the act and started a tumblr page with photos of famous historical figures with Obama amusingly added into the background in photobomb-style (where people that don’t belong in a photo are added in as a joke).

Still, having fun or no, imagine if a Republican president had been so arrogant as to have added his own name the the bios of every president? It would have been the left’s outrage du jour and the Old Media would have skewered such a president were he a Republican. You’d never hear the end of this on late night talk shows or from comedians, either. If a Republican had been this arrogant the whole Old Media landscape from California through flyover country all the way to New York would be lit up with vitriol.

Obama does it and there’s crickets.

**UPDATE**

Via email, Jim Geraghty of National Review tells me that in a recent private interview, Gov. Romney responded to this little example of Obamaarrogance. Here is what Mitt said about it…

I hadn’t seen the story, but I do know that when the president ran, he said that this election would be the turning point, that the oceans would recede, that the world would shift because of him being in office. There seem to be people around him, as well as himself, who have a very grand view of what he will accomplish . . . and we’re still waiting to see that. I think the American people have been disappointed. The promises were grandiose and extraordinary, and the deliverables have been disappointing at best. I think it is one thing to try to rewrite your own history — it’s something different altogether to rewrite that of all your predecessors. . . . I can commit: I will not be trying to rewrite the biographies of former presidents.

It’s pretty sad that we are in a day when a candidate has to run for office promising not to emulate the previous guy’s Stalin-like efforts to re-write history, isn’t it?

Zimmerman Had Broken Nose, Martin Had Damaged Knuckles

None of this should imply that Zimmerman wasn’t in the wrong. But, it does lend credence to the narrative laid out by George Zimmerman and at least one supposed witness, and highlights that those who immediately called for Zimmerman to get the death penalty, or just arrested and sent to jail, should wait for evidence

(ABC News) A medical report compiled by the family physician of accused Trayvon Martin murderer George Zimmerman and obtained exclusively by ABC News found that Zimmerman was diagnosed with a “closed fracture” of his nose, a pair of black eyes, two lacerations to the back of his head and a minor back injury the day after he fatally shot Martin during an alleged altercation.

Appears as if he was in a fight and had his head bashed into the ground.

(WFTV) WFTV has confirmed that autopsy results show 17-year-old Trayvon Martin had injuries to his knuckles when he died.

The information could support George Zimmerman’s claim that Martin beat him up before Zimmerman shot and killed him.

As the article goes on to point out, there could be two reasons for this: Trayvon could have been the aggressor, or, he could have been defending himself/trying to get away. But, there has been no narrative that Zimmerman assaulted Trayvon prior to the shooting.

Liberals wanted some sort of cause to be able to scream “racism”, and they found it in Trayvon. Even though Zimmerman is a Hispanic. Liberals did not care about evidence and the rule of law, nor “innocent till proven guilty.” They wanted their gallon of blood.

Contraceptive Mandate Forces Franciscan U. To Drop Health Insurance

Apparently, that “compromise” didn’t assuage the university, and we can probably expect many more to follow suit (depending on who wins the election)

(Life News) Franciscan University appears to be the first casualty of the new Obama HHS mandate that requires Catholic colleges, groups and businesses to pay for drugs that may cause abortions and birth control for their employees.

Although President Barack Obama declared “If you like your health care coverage you can keep it,” when it came to passing Obamacare, a Catholic college in Ohio has determined it will no longer offer a student health insurance plan.

“The Obama Administration has mandated that all health insurance plans must cover “women’s health services” including contraception, sterilization, and abortion-causing medications as part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA),” the university says in a new post on its website. “Up to this time, Franciscan University has specifically excluded these services and products from its student health insurance policy, and we will not participate in a plan that requires us to violate the consistent teachings of the Catholic Church on the sacredness of human life.”

“Additionally, the PPACA increased the mandated maximum coverage amount for student policies to $100,000 for the 2012-13 school year, which would effectively double your premium cost for the policy in fall 2012, with the expectation of further increases in the future,” FUS continues.

“Due to these changes in regulation by the federal government, beginning with the 2012-13 school year, the University 1) will no longer require that all full-time undergraduate students carry health insurance, 2) will no longer offer a student health insurance plan, and 3) will no longer bill those not covered under a parent/guardian plan or personal plan for student health insurance,” the college said.

This is a direct result of Obamacare, a monstrous piece of legislation that went well beyond the original intent, which was simply to make sure that the 30-45 million Americans without health insurance had access to it, a worthy cause. However, we ended up with this pig of a bill that the majority of Americans hate and involves itself way too much with American’s health insurance and care, driving up costs and incentivizing organizations to drop their insurance. How, exactly, does it help make sure people have access to insurance by slapping even more mandates on to what must be offered in insurance plans?

Tom Crowe, an employee at Franciscan U., writes at Catholic Vote

But there you have it: thanks to the government’s firm desire to make sure the one or two women left in the country who did not have easy and cheap access to contraceptives, abortifacients, and sterilization procedures, our 2,500 students will no longer have an insurance plan ready and waiting for them.

The rule was surely meant to pander to women by offering them “free” stuff (women should be insulted that the Obama administration thinks women aren’t capable of paying the small costs for contraceptives themselves) with an election coming up. There was zero reason for the contraceptive mandate. This was micro-managing in the market, and the Law Of Unintended Consequences has turned around and bit Team Obama in the posterior.

Why is the New England Historic Genealogical Society Lying Abut Warren’s Amer. Indian Claims?

As each day rolls on in this investigation of the claims made by Massachusetts Democrat Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren that she has Native American heritage in her background we are finding fewer and fewer reasons to believe her. Sadly, she is dragging down once well-respected groups with her unprovable claims and Boston-based New England Historic Genealogical Society is one of them.

As this story came to the fore recently one of the main sources that buttressed Warren’s now faltering claims that she is part Native American came from the New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS). Famously, or perhaps now infamously, NEHGS genealogist Christopher Child substantiated Warren’s claim that her great-great-great grandmother, O.C. Sarah Smith, had Cherokee blood.

This evidence, Mr. Child claimed, is substantiated by a “marriage application” filed with the state of Oklahoma upon which, Child insists, is a section where this supposed native heritage is noted. This document, however, does not seem to actually exist.

Worse, according to the County Clerk of Logan County, Oklahoma, there was no such thing as a “marriage application” in the 1890s, the era in which O.C. Sarah Smith was married. The clerk said that people didn’t get “applications” back then, they just got a marriage certificate and that was all — there was no “application” process. So, not only does this document not exist, it couldn’t exist.

Naturally, the NEHGS has suddenly found that it no longer wants to be part of this debate! The NEHGS has shut down any communication about the claims made by its genealogist. William A. Jacobson of the Legal Insurrection blog tried to contact the NEHGS and found that the organization doesn’t have the integrity to stand up for its claims. Sadly, Jacobson found that the NEHGS is refusing to reply to any calls to prove that what they’ve said about Warren is true.

It is sad to see the New England Historic Genealogical Society allowing its reputation to be destroyed by its desires to buck up a Democrat running for office. Of course, Child and the NEHGS get a lot of cash from the state and one has to assume that they are just looking to find favor with a Democrat that they might assume will help them get more public money.

But what this all comes down to is Warren relying simply on family lore to claim that she has American Indian heritage. Now, this sort of foolish reliance on mere family myth is fine when a family is sitting around the dinner table or at family functions and shooting from the lip about their past. But basing legal and moral claims on such hearsay is not legitimate.

Warren has done just that, too. She’s used her unsubstantiated family mythos for financial gain. Worse, the university at which she teaches has done the same thing. Harvard University has used Warren’s faux Indian heritage to sell its programs and likely done so in efforts to get funding, as well.

Family lore is one thing, but when that lore is used for financial gain and it turns out to be based on nothing but lies, this is something else entirely.

Warren is being brazen about it all, too. Far from shying from the discussion she is doubling down on her fake claims of a Native American heritage saying she is “proud” of that heritage… that doesn’t actually exist.

So, what should we call this woman? Is her Indian name Lies Like The Wind? How about Faux-cahontis? Whatever names we call her, “American Indian” isn’t among them.

Team Obama Doesn’t Like It When Protesters Occupy an Obama Campaign Office

The group involved was not actually Occupy Chicago or another cities Occupy group, however they used similar tactics to Occupy and other left leaning groups. And the group involved, while pushing Catholic teachings, tends more to lean towards social justice and “communitarianism“. They are anti-capitalism and believe “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.” It’s no wonder they’re protesting in Chicago at the NATO summit

(Chicago Tribune) Dozens of demonstrators dashed into the Loop building housing President Barack Obama’s campaign headquarters this morning, slipping past security guards and running up escalators as they kicked off what they called a “Week Without Capitalism.”

Obviously, Team Obama had a positive discussion over the issues that affect all Americans while attempting to create a consensus on doing away with capitalism and moving towards a more enlightened society, right? Uh, no

Eight protesters were led out in handcuffs about half an hour later after they refused to clear the lobby. They were cheered by other demonstrators who began dancing and singing folk and gospel songs.

The demonstration, organized by the Catholic Worker movement. began with about 100 demonstrators picketing at Prudential Plaza and passing out rolls to commuters in what they called a symbolic invitation to break bread with world leaders expected here this weekend for the NATO summit.

I guess Team Obama doesn’t like it when left side protestors/agitators use the same tactics on Team Obama.

As for the Occupiers, today is their Occupy Day Of Action where no person is illegal. And around a hundred officers from around the country are coming to Chicago to help keep the peace for the NATO summit in the week leading up to the official meetings on the 20th and 21st. Boeing has told its workers (who are part of the 99%) to work from home next week because of the probably disruptions from the Occupiers.
